Many couples have a tight budget and look for ways to save money
when planning their wedding.  Ask any Bride or Groom if saving
money is important and you will hear a resounding, “Yes!”
There are a variety of money-saving options available and if time
allows couples should shop around to find the best deals, some of
which can be found at Bridal Shows/Fairs where vendors routinely
have special offers!  Five of the top money-saving tips are described
below.

NUMBER OF GUESTS:
The first thing to consider when cutting down on costs is the guest
list.  Fewer guests means saving money on invitations, meals, bar
tabs, cake, favors, centerpieces, etc.

TIME OF DAY/YEAR:
A lunch/brunch can be just as elegantly planned as a dinner menu,
only less expensive.  Additionally, getting married on a weekday or a
Sunday will likely be cheaper than Saturday night due to popularity
and possible discounts for “off-day” weddings.  Also, avoid holidays
due to supply/demand price increases such as Valentine’s Day
flowers.

BRIDAL GOWNS:
End of the season sales can offer beautiful gowns at half the price,
you can rent instead of buy and elegantly simple “non-wedding”
gowns are also less expensive.

CEREMONY AND RECEPTION:
Try using a single site for both the ceremony and reception.  You will
save time and money here!
Hold your wedding indoors.  Outdoor weddings, though chic, can be
more expensive due to additional cost in rentals, lighting and staffing.

CATERING AND DRINKS:
Having a buffet-style meal vs. a served meal can save both time and
money as the latter usually requires additional staffing for large
weddings and can be very time-consuming.  See how many guests
would like a children’s or vegetarian’s plate so that expensive main
courses like tri-tip do not go untouched.
Toast with what you have on hand.  Champagne is more expensive
per bottle than cider or punch.
Having a “California Bar” (beer, wine, champagne and soft drinks)
rather than hard liquor will save you money.  If you decide to serve
hard liquor, a “No Host Bar” where guests pay for their own
beverages can also be cost-savvy.
